Well it's official...

I am a stalker...lol... I have a Twitter account. http://twitter.com/msbea_musicluva. Yep.

I had prepared to do a religous post, but I lost the paper. You live and learn. LOL.

I read Psalms 89-1o6 while in Bible Study at my brother's former church (trust me, it is beyond complicated), and I learned some powerful things! So I suggest reading those Psalms.

Here's short gospel list--this one gets me through the rough days:

Center of My Joy--Richard Smallwood

Oh My Soul Loves Jesus--Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers

More Than I Can Bear---and Imagine Me--Kirk Franklin

Today's the Day...

I'm in my home state, NC, for spring break--spending time with my family, going to church (2x)-- eating unbelievably great country food! I am truly happy! The only way I could be happier is if my besties were here!

It's days like today that I am truly free-- I feel truly blessed!

Before I go, I will post a gospel playlist:

My Name Victory--Johnathan Nelson

Your Mercy--Blessed

He's Sweet II--Blessed

Go Tell it Mountain--Mahalia Jackson

I Give You Praise--Richard Smallwood

Peace and Blessings

Insert Clever Title Here

I've thought about many things. But mostly purpose-- I firmly believe God has given us the capacity to dream and the tools to achieve them. However, how do we know which ones to pursue?

Do we draw straws? Write a list blindfold ourselves and pick one? Pick one out of a hat?

Seriously--how do you know which one is the right one?

Admittedly, I am not a perfect Christian. In fact, I am bold enough to admit the truth: I'm the scum at th bottom of the Christian barrel. I'm toejam in the body of Christ. Hopefully by now you get the point without me using more metaphors. That being said, I don't have a perfect communication line with God, but I do thank him for my brothers Jesus, Grace and Mercy. Without them, there would be no hope for me.

So which one do I pursue? I have prayed about it, but no answer. Is it that I'm not listening?

Or is it the fact that we all pray for selfish reasons?

Discover Music

As a music lover, I wonder what happens to forgotten/undiscovered music. So I decided that every now and then I would put a list of music out that people might not have discovered. I know that we are not that experimental with music—but there are some songs that I believe that we should try and listen to. If you don’t like it—that’s fine, but you should at least attempt to try to listen:

Jimi Hendrix
The first black outcast—misfit in black society: He created music that was true to himself—how can you deny that?

Songs Suggested:
  1. Manic Depression
  2. Purple Haze
  3. Voodoo Child

Raheem DeVaughn

People just discovered the self proclaimed “NeoSoul Hippie Rockstar” with his hit of 2007 Customer. But believe me—he was around before then.

Songs Suggested:
  1. Believe
  2. Empty
  3. Energy
  4. Friday
  5. Breathe
  6. Ask Yourself
  7. Catch 22

Meshell Ndegeocello
Outside the NeoSoul circle, black people don’t have a clue who she is—but if you’ve seen Love and Basketball, you’ve heard her—She sung the song “Fool of Me” during the infamous 4th quarter where Q and Monica play for each other’s love.

Songs Suggested:
  1. Outside Your Door
  2. Bitter

Jazzyfatnastees
Once again the NeoSoul Circle—but these two young ladies have soul reminiscent of Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin—and if you don’t know who Nina Simone is, you really need to start looking in to black music—Seriously.

Songs Suggested:
  1. Let it go
  2. Breakthrough
  3. Unconventional Ways
Outkast
Ok everyone who knows me knows how much I love Outkast—I have every album. But people only know them for their hits—which people still manage not to listen to them—Don’t believe me—actually listen to “Hey Ya”—I’ll bet you five dollars the second verse you never listened to, will shock you.

Songs Suggested:
  1. Liberation
  2. Babylon
  3. Synthesizer
  4. Return of the “G”

Curtis Mayfield
If you don’t know who he is, I am really ashamed to call your parents black (if you are black that is)—because they should have at least played “People Get Ready” or “ Diamond in the Back”—which Ludacris sampled for the remake. Monica sampled him too—for her song Dozen Roses.

Songs Suggested:
  1. We People Who are Darker Than Blue
  2. Makings of You (Song Monica sampled)
  3. Keep On Keepin On
  4. Freddie’s Dead

Finally
Nina Simone

Some may not have heard of her—really what were your parents doing –and so I will give you some songs that I find to be great.

Songs Suggested:
  1. Young, Gifted, and Black
  2. House of the Rising Sun

I googled the images, so thank you to those who provided them!

Anxiety, Health, and Me

Yesterday, an attack completely crippled me. Last night, after an already hectic day of visiting the psychiatrist, visiting the doctor in the student health center, which the psychiatrist recommended because he wanted to ensure that it wasn't anything that was health related, class, and then work, I got home to a stack of mail. I got mail from SCDMV stating that I haven't paid my taxes in Richland county, and I live in Lexington--I even went there last August to pay it, but they said that because I live in a different county, that I wasn't responsible for paying them taxes. Can someone explain why they are sending me notice that if I don't pay them by the seventeenth, that my plates will be suspended? Not to mention the bill that I got from the student health center for $83 for tests--and I am covered by student insurance that my psychiatrist recommended

I hadn't finished my independent study stuff was due Saturday and my group members--for my first group project in college and I am a SENIOR--that is due today, had not contacted me. The stress an anxiety hit me so hard I hit the floor. After a few "fuck it all"s and a cigarette (yes Gabe I am smoking again) I calmed down enough to call them all, I discover all of them know each other, and I am left out the loop, even though I signed up first, and sent an email to them all about the project. I ended up typing the proposal this morning and missing my first class. I almost passed out yesterday, but it left me weak enough to fall to the floor!

The next post in a minute or so will be a list of songs for download.

Peace and blessings,

A Day in the Life of Bumble

I have suffered from anxiety attacks since the day I got my first college acceptance letter. In the past, they came every blue moon, but now I have as many as four to six a week.

I am a strong, intelligent woman, with many goals that I want to accomplish before I die. Even though I'm Christian, I try to live by Gandi's ideal "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Lately, more like the recent past, I have been failing at the goals I've set for myself--which causes more stress when I make other goals. Everyday I am haunted by the goals that I failed to accomplish. Everyday, I have to remind myself to breathe--the true mark of my generation--x or y, depending on who you talk to.

I try to escape by two of my past times--reading and listening to music, but even that has been nullified--books usually end happily and music is for the moment. Life's itself or life's choices are rarely that simple.

Is that what makes us inevitably human? Self-realization or the capacity for change? Is it really that simple?

Life's questions can be harder to answer than life itself. But honestly what I don't understand is the ease of complexity life has...

Just random thoughts.

I will post these occasionally--please don't be too judgmental about them.

Most of my posts will be about music lists-- hopefully sharing my love for music.

Until next time,

Peace and Blessings

First Official Blog

Hey,

I am a really cool and laid back person. I love music and I love art, poetry, and science--anything that can get your heart to stop at a moment's notice--I guess you already know what kind of girl I am.

Anyway, I am going to post more later--this is just a starter blog.
